Member expertise is both broad and deep: it includes
building science R&D, product manufacture,
sustainable design and construction, energy efficiency,
cost-efficient Energy Star compliance, healthy
housing and construction process management. Hickory
is nationally recognized for bringing energy-efficient,
affordable housing to urban communities at low
cost. Hickory also has extensive experience in
systems built construction- panelized and modular
-and the processes that lead to successful projects
using those techniques. Clients include non-profit
organizations, municipalities, state and federal
housing and finance organizations, educational
institutions, government agencies, and the private
sector.
Through its individual members, the Hickory Consortium
provides direct design, development and construction
services as well as consulting. As a group, the
Consortium provides consulting, technical assistance,
and educational programs. In addition, Hickory
provides strong links to other green building
organizations and programs, such as the USGBC
LEED rating system for green buildings, EPA/DOE
Energy Star rating for energy efficient buildings
and equipment, and housing advocacy organizations,
such as the NCCED (National Congress of Community
Economic Development).
